Blog post #2 – What’s Facebook and why you have to use it

We all know that Facebook isn’t new, and we also know that it’s indispensable to all businesses. Many changes have taken place on Facebook since its launch in 2006. Today, the world’s largest social media can do things that many entrepreneurs, marketers and business owner have always dreamed of doing: 360 videos, selling products via a chatbot, etc…

Facebook is a social media that allows you to stay in touch and exchange information with friends, co-workers, prospects, clients, partners etc…

Facebook is more than 1.2 billion active users every day around the world, or approximately 15% of the world’s population who connect to the same site every day! More than that: 45% of marketers think their actions are effective on it!

To use Facebook, simply choose to create:

  • a personal profile on which you wish to communicate public data
  • an official page to communicate with customers or fans
  • a community page to support a cause or topic
  • a group to share a hobby, a passion, a professional interest with other members

Facebook has basic features that allow you to search for people, share photos, chat, exchange messages, keep track of your contacts, present events and more.

But that’s not all. Facebook also offers third-party applications that are accessible inside or outside of its platform.

The leader of social media also has an advertising system to promote a company, a product, an event, a Facebook page etc … The advertiser (individual or private) can easily create ads with text and images depending on the target audience and the budget chosen. The payment is made per click (cpc) or per print (cpm). The follow-up of the advertising campaigns is done in real time and through statistics.

Facebook is useful for a company since it allows you to :

  • Increase your company’s notoriety and visibility
  • Federate a community, build customer loyalty and communicate
  • Know your customers
  • Prospecting by attracting new users
  • Benefit from an ergonomic and intuitive graphical interface
  • Encouraging customers to take action
  • Generate traffic on your website
  • Deploy a local and international strategy
  • Sell its products and offer its services

But that’s not all. Facebook also offers third-party applications that are accessible inside or outside of its platform.

My opinion: We don’t present Facebook anymore. Known for several years now, this social network gathers all ages: from the youngest to the oldest. Younger people will say it’s an old-fashioned social network, yet many are still there and do their research on it. From my point of view, it’s a social network you can’t do without today, simply because it’s the social network with the most users even today. You can do everything on it and very few communication campaigns are done without facebook. So, of course, it’s not a very innovative social media but we can still do a lot of things on it, so it is not to be ignored!
